About mario
Mario Vera, founder and CEO of Vera Home Builders, LLC, began his career in the building industry at the age of 18 as a painter with Regency Homes (later acquired by D.R. Horton). With a dream in his heart and youthful energy, Mario became a hands-on student in the industry. Over the course of several years, Mario acquired a solid foundation in construction and gained valuable insight into the world of home building. Mario’s commitment to excellence lead him to a great opportunity to become a general contractor and entrepreneur. Regency Homes recognized Mario’s potential and offered to become associates in future projects. With first customer and contract in hand, Mario opened the doors of Vera Painting, LLC in 2003.
Working from a small office, Mario marched forward with help from his strongest supporters - his family members. Business support was provided by his brothers Jose and Fernando. Mario excelled from the outset and began to receive recognition and recommendations from his associates. One recommendation led to a multi-million-dollar contract with CBI Construction Services and Capstone. With a confident spirit, his company successfully built over 1,800 units totaling over 10,262 rooms for educational institutions such as Auburn University, Clemson University, Florida State University, Georgia College, Louisiana State University, Texas State University, and the University of Missouri to name a few. This project provided the stepping stones for Mario to expand his subcontractors from 3 to 230.
Mario soon began to negotiate partnerships with prominent home builders such as Signature Homes, Newcastle Homes, and Embassy Homes for construction in the Alabama market and across the US. Within 4 years, Mario proved to be a contractor that works with trusted vendors and subcontractors, and directs teams that provide reliable workmanship, using quality materials, all at a fair cost. It was at this point that Vera Home Builders became a reality for Mario in 2007.
Partnering within the community is key for Mario. Committed to giving back to the community and helping others achieve their dream of home ownership, Mario partners annually with Habitat for Humanity in the Home Builder Blitz program. A fan of sports, Mario donates to several youth athletic programs in Shelby County and surrounding counties. Mario proudly serve the community as a resource by participating in projects dedicated to rebuilding communities affected by natural disasters.
When Mario is asked about his future goals he states he would like to become a successful builder of high-quality homes. When not in the office, Mario enjoys spending time with his children and cheering for his favorite soccer and baseball teams.
